Prenatal Nutrition & Self-Care Tips

Take care of yourself (and your growing baby!) during this exciting, transformative time.

Prenatal Nutrition & Self-Care Tips

When you’re pregnant or trying to conceive, your body goes through a lot of major changes to get ready for baby. The whole experience can feel like a rollercoaster of emotions and physical changes, but it can also be amazing and transformative. After all, you’re bringing a new life into the world and that’s pretty incredible.

Nutritional Needs
Pregnant women and women who are trying to conceive need special nutrients to support not only their own health, but that of their developing baby. Even if you eat a balanced, healthy diet, you may need to supplement with nutrients that are critical to baby’s development.

At Alive!®, we offer four specialized prenatal multivitamin formulas for mom and baby, including Prenatal Gummies and Complete Premium Prenatal Multi Softgel. Each formula contains plant-based DHA (not from fish) for healthy brain and eye development.* Both formulas also contain our full B-vitamin complex to help convert food into energy.*

If gummies are your preferred way to take a multivitamin, you’ll love the zesty strawberry and lemon flavors of Alive! Prenatal Gummies, made with 50 mg of our Orchard Fruits™ and Garden Veggies™ powder blend per serving. The gummies deliver 100% or more of the daily value of eight essential vitamins and minerals.

Our vegetarian Complete Premium Prenatal Multi Softgel has a fresh, fruity strawberry aroma and delivers 100% or more of the recommended daily value of 18 vitamins and minerals. It contains 100 mg of the Orchard Fruits™ and Garden Veggies™ powder blend per serving.

Doctors often recommend that women who are trying to get pregnant start taking a prenatal vitamin to prepare for pregnancy; folate is very important for fetal development in the first months of pregnancy, but it can be difficult to get enough from your diet, so supplementing with a multivitamin can help.

Self-Care Tips
It’s important to take care of yourself every day, but especially during pregnancy. Focus on self-care during these transformative months to help manage stress, stay fit, and enjoy those 40 weeks.
  1. Stay active. Working out and keeping active during your pregnancy helps you stay in shape and feel more positive thanks to that great endorphin rush. Try low-impact exercise like prenatal yoga, walking, or swimming. A good rule to follow is that if you were doing it before you became pregnant, you can likely continue, but be sure to talk to your doctor to make sure you’re exercising safely.
  2. Get some rest. It’s normal to feel tired and fatigued during pregnancy, so be sure you’re getting an adequate amount of rest. Take a nap if you need to and remember to be kind to yourself — there’s a reason prenatal massages exist!
  3. Stay hydrated. If drinking water is a struggle for you, keep a bottle at your desk and in your car, or try adding lemon or mint to make it more flavorful.
  4. Find a supportive community. Join a new mom’s group or regularly get together with friends, family members, or coworkers who understand what you’re going through and can provide caring advice and encouragement.
  5. Eat right. Don’t be afraid to indulge when you’ve got a craving, but don’t overdo it, either. Try to eat a healthy, balanced diet to make sure you’re getting the nutrients you and baby need.
